Yes, you can participate. You can also combine the good neighbor program with the FHA 203k renovation financing to remodel or repair your new home. Contact HUD or your Realtor for more details.

I am a member of contractortalk.com and saw your post offering advice. I am a GC located in S. New Hampshire and I would like to get into 203K work and I have a few questions.
Are all estimates itemized and if so have you found any software that works good for you?
Going into this are there any pitfalls I should know as a rookie 203k contractor? I have been in business 10 years so I am not a rookie contractor other than the 203 aspect of it?
Just how extensive is the paperwork?
I have been able to locate lenders that deal in 203k work but would like to find realtors. Any suggestion?
Thanks

Planning, planning and planning. Before contracting a kitchen remodeling, the family must sit down and agree on the layout and make a list of "wants". Then they must agree on desife verses affordability. When an agreemnet is reached go to your remodeler for help and inspiration.

Kitchen and bath remodels are complicated projects with lots of variables and "vanities". By "vanities" we do not mean places to rest your hair dryer, we mean sexy objects and materials that we want and look for in our kitchen and bath renovations. Trying to convince someone to give up their granite counter tops in exchange for spray foam insulation is a lost cause, but consider giving up something or adding a bit to your budget to produce a return on investment forever.
